FRANCOLIN MANOR Situated in the quiet cul de sac Francolin Close is the gracious and luxurious guest home of Francolin Manor. A home on multi levels. The tranquil Hermanus Heights lends itself to a relaxed stay in our beautiful Hermanus or make your stay as busy as you like we are only a few minutes drive to all activities that this wonderful town has to offer The two guest rooms The Garden Cottage and The Olive Room are on the bottom garden level offering complete privacy from the main house with private entrances. The Olive room is 25sq meters has a double bed with an open plan bathroom with a shower/bath combo toiletries and hairdryer. A T.V. with satellite channels is available. A bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The Garden Cottage is 35sq meters a double bed full en suite bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer. The Garden Cottage also has some self catering facilities as well with a fridge, gas stove, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. A private patio leads onto the garden, relax in a lounger and listen to the local birds in the morning while sipping your tea or enjoy a sundowners. The second level consists of the bar lounge and sunny patio with plunge pool. Relax after a busy day sightseeing and listen to the cascading water of a large tropical Koi pond and watch the hang gliders float by from the beautiful Hermanus mountain. The third level has two King Suites. The Silver Suite which is 80sq meters has an extra length king size bed with tempur mattress, high quality linen and a full bathroom, double vanity and toiletries and a hairdryer. There are surround views of the sea in the distance and the Hermanus Mountain range. Tea and coffee making facilities are available. A private patio has an endless vista to the sea and of the Hermanus mountain range, sip sundowners from a lofty level or recline on a lazy boy to watch a full satellite T. V. service. The Palm Room is 65sq meters with an extra length king size bed high quality linen, full en suite bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer. Tea and coffee making facilities are available. Relax on a lounger and take in the view of the patio koi pond and the sea in the distance, or enjoy a glass of wine on your private balcony while the hang gliders drift past atop the looming Hermanus Mountain Range. A T.V is available with full satellite. The spectacular cliff path walk is not to be missed, this walk meanders the length of Hermanus from The New Harbour all the way to our famous blue flag Grotto beach, along these cliff tops is where one can spot our Southern Right Whales or a school of dolphins zipping past and also learn about our local flora and fauna. In front of our main village square one can view a collection of sculptures from South African artists on display. While en route sit on one of the many benches and soak up the magnificent ocean view. On a glorious day Grotto beach offers the sun seekers a day of sun and relaxation or take a long leisurely stroll on the waters edge down the endless white sandy shore. The restaurant Duchies is situated on this beach as well as a pop up cocktail and sushi bar that is open from November to April. Hermanus is one of 8 top land based Whale watching capitals of the world a fantastic experience . These majestic Southern Right whales come to our shores to birth and suckle their young from July to October, before making their long journey home with her young baby to the Antarctic. Watch these grand creatures up close and personal. Our famous Hemel and Aarde Valley is host to worldwide award winning wine estates. the ever famous Bouchard Finlayson and Hamilton Russel are continuous winners of the Pinot Noir variety and an experience not to be missed, the wonderful Creation Wine Estate offers wine and food pairing that will delight the discerning palette. Plus many other wine estates with first class wines, a wine route worthy of a days excursion. There are also an endless selection of restaurants all over our beautiful town, from eating on the beachfront to high up on the mountains with practically every type of cuisine to cater to all palettes. Another world famous activity is shark cage diving in the nearby town of Gansbaai. There are however locally run companies and who operate from town and ferry guests to and from Hermanus. An experience not to be missed! There are many activities in Hermanus, 2 country markets on Saturday mornings and in summer on Wednesday evenings, they offer local craft beer and wine and an array of home made meals or treats to enjoy! Join in the local fun and buzz of Hermanus. On the first Friday of every month we have our famous charity driven Hermanus Art Walk, our famous artists and galleries open their doors offering snacks and a glass of wine and the chance to purchase a small painting that the artists produce based on the theme chosen for that month, these monies are then distributed to various local charities and great socialising and making new friends is had by all. Hiring bikes, local park run on Saturday morning, paragliding, ziplining and kayaking in our bay are just some of the activities available for the more adventurous. Do the Stanford Wine Route and explore the quaint town of Stanford, visit the local cheese farm or brewery then drive onto De Kelders for coffee on the rocks and more whale watching. Two barges operate in summer offering a number of cruises a day going at a leisurely pace down The Klein River that runs through Stanford, this popular pastime is so enjoyed by all that bookings need to be made well in advance. Take your favourite tipple and meat for an onboard braai and a few friends to complete the experience, don't forget the swimsuit for when the barge stops for all to enjoy a cool dip in the river or float behind the barge on a tube!
